33 Tickets Hit Record Churchill Pick Six Pool

(from Churchill Downs report)There were 33 winning Pick Six tickets at Churchill Downs on Thursday when the pool reached nearly $2.9 million, the largest for the multi-race wager in track history.
Those tickets -- which included three at Churchill Downs – were worth $63,405.80 apiece. Bettors who selected five of six winners received a consolation payout of $375.
The total pool for the Pick Six wager was a record $2,891,517.85 when wagering was halted at the start of Thursday's 5th race. The Pick Six pool started the day with a carryover of $855,542.85. There had been no perfect tickets for three days, a string that started on Kentucky Oaks Day and included Kentucky Derby Day.
A total of $2,035,975 was pumped into the pool on Thursday alone, a record for a single day of Pick Six betting at Churchill Downs.
Of Thursday's record final pool, a total of $2,092,396 was paid out
to the winners.
The previous record Pick Six pool at Churchill Downs was $1,709,656, which was hit by a single bettor on June 25, 2003 for a record payout of $1,168,136. The previous record of $1,379,667 for single day Pick Six wagering at Churchill Downs was established on the same day.
The longest price Thursday in the Pick Six was Sweet Bernice, who paid $22.20 in the eighth race. the Pick Six was on races 5-10.
