TV Games Network had a record handle for the both the first quarter of 2004 and the May 1 Kentucky Derby (gr. I).
TVG handled $42,449,322 in the first quarter, the highest first quarter total in the company's history and a 68% increase over the same period in 2003. Additionally, the 2004 Kentucky Derby highlighted largest single day of wagering in the company's history. TVG handled $5,148,375 on May 1, eclipsing the previous single-day record of $4,045,559 set on the day of the 2003 Kentucky Derby.
"The strong wagering numbers for the first quarter and the Kentucky Derby were fueled, in large part, by increases in cable and satellite television distribution over the past year and the continued improvement of our television programming," said Ryan O'Hara, chief operating officer of TVG. "We believe that we are building strong brand loyalty among racing and general sports fans, which will continue to be our highest priority moving forward."
