(from Prairie Meadows report)
Pie's Lil Brother won Saturday's $50,000 Prairie Express at Prairie Meadows for the second straight year, holding off Coach Jimi Lee and Sand Ridge in a photo finish.

Terry Thompson returned to Iowa from Churchill Downs, where he was second aboard Island Sand in Friday's Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), picked up the mount on Pie's Lil Brother for trainer Stanley Roberts. The time was 1:03.65 for the 5 1/2 furlongs and pushed Pie's Lil Brother career earnings to more than$175,000.

"He's a 5 ½ specialist," said Roberts. "That's his lick, 5 ½. He likes a lot of speed in front of him. If they'll go out there burning like they did tonight, he'll come and get them. He likes this racetrack."

Pie's Lil Brother returned $41.80, $9.40, and $5.60. Coach Jimi Lee paid $3.40, $3.20. Sand Ridge, $3.60.
