The only thing that may change more between now and Kentucky Derby day than who is in and who is out of the race -- and be discussed as much -- is the weather forecast.
The National Weather Service 10-day forecast, released today through Derby day, calls for a high of 72 in Louisville on May 1 with a 40% chance of showers.
It has rained in Louisville most of today and the forecast calls for more rain tomorrow and Sunday. There is a 30% chance of rain on April 30, the date of the Kentucky Oaks.
The last Derby day with significant rainfall was May 7, 1994, when over four-tenths of an inch of rain was recorded and Go For Gin won over a sloppy track.
