Dr. Tony Ryan announced Monday that Tony Cissell has been named general manager of Castleton Lyons Farm, the Lexington, Ky. farm owned by Ryan.
"We were immensely pleased with the quality of the candidates who came forward, but Tony in particular impressed me greatly," Ryan said. "He will be a huge asset to us going forward".
Cissell started his career with Eaton Farms and joined Calumet Farm as yearling manager before serving as general manager from 1998-2003. He most recently had been bloodstock advisor to Middlebrook farm in Lexington.
"I am excited to have the chance to continue the excellent work done at Castleton Lyons, and in particular to expanding the Thoroughbred legacy at this famous Kentucky farm," Cissell said.
Castleton Lyons provides boarding and breeding services to the Thoroughbred industry and also acts as the U. S. hub of the breeding interests of the Ryan family. The farm currently stands Malibu Moon
, one of the leading Freshman Sires of 2003, and is due to stand the 2003 Eclipse champion 2-year-old male and Kentucky Derby (gr. I) contender Action This Day in 2005.
