In her next-to-last career start, Locust Hill Farm's Ruffian coasted to a 2 3/4-length victory over Equal Change and Let Me Linger in the Coaching Club American Oaks at Belmont Park on June 21, 1975. The victory was the fifth from as many starts during the 1975 season for Ruffian, sent off as the 1-20 favorite. Ruffian's career ended tragically in her next start, the "Great Match Race."
