"The Works," TVG's program that covers the comings and goings of Kentucky Derby and Oaks entrants, will begin its fifth year Saturday, April 24 at noon ET. The 30-minute installments will continue daily through April 29, with each show replayed at 9 p.m. (ET) Saturday and Sunday, and 8 p.m. (ET) Monday-Thursday. "The Works" will also be simulcast on Fox Sports NY, Fox Sports South, and Fox Sports Net 2.
The programs will originate from Churchill Downs and will feature Todd Schrupp, Frank Lyons, Tom Amoss, Jeff Lifson, and Caton Bredar. The program offers same-day coverage of morning workouts for horses expected to go in the 130th Kentucky Derby and 130th Kentucky Oaks. The show also will feature interviews with owners, trainers, and jockeys.
"The show has become an important part of the Kentucky Derby experience," said TVG vice president and executive producer Tony Allevato. Lyons, a regular TVG analyst, could potentially double this year as a part-owner as well, as the former trainer owns a 15% slice of Santa Anita Derby victor Castledale.
