Earthmover, who set a Hialeah track record, was euthanized April 3 because of complications from a leg injury. The 23-year-old son of Chieftain out of the Run Fool Run mare Runette stood the majority of his career at Steve Belford's Seven Oaks Farm near Mt. Gilead, Ohio.
Bred by Apache Farm and campaigned by Bruno Preski, Earthmover won eight of 26 starts and earned $145,408. He won two stakes in 1985, including the Tallahassee Handicap in track-record time of 1:08 for six furlongs at Hialeah.
As a stallion, Earthmover sired stakes-placed Queen Dream Sleep and other winners.
