British import Ticker Tape dominated a field of 12 fillies in Sunday's $113,700 Providencia Stakes at Santa Anita Park for the richest win and the biggest margin of victory in her 10-race career.

Ridden by Kent Desormeaux, Ticker Tape lay sixth on the backstretch in the Providencia, a turf mile for 3-year-old fillies. She passed the leaders three-wide on the turn and charged home virtually unchallenged, racing the mile on turf in 1:34.55.

"When I asked her to run she just took off," Desormeaux said. "She had been begging me to ask her to do that."

"She had a great trip and got a great ride," said Ticker Tape's trainer James Cassidy. "He rode the hair off her. That move impressed me more than I expected. He rode her with so much confidence he told me at the eighth pole he had so much horse she could have gone around again."

In her first two starts in the United States, Ticker Tape had finished second to Mambo Slew, Sunday's betting favorite, but Ticker Tape has now beaten Mambo Slew in their last two starts -- the March 18 China Doll Stakes and the Providencia.

Mambo Slew got stuck on the rail in the homestretch and finished a fading 11th.

Ticker Tape carried 118 pounds and paid $11.40, $6 and $4.60. Amorama, ridden by Tyler Baze, was second and paid $7.80 and $4.20. Winendynme, ridden by Jose Valdivia Jr., was another length back in third and returned $6 to show.

Ticker Tape's record improved to 4-4-1. She earned $68,220 bumping her lifetime bankroll to $237,311. Her owners are Jim Ford and Jack Sweesy. Bred in Great Britain by Car Colston Hall Stud, Ticker Tape is a 3-year-old daughter of Royal Applause.
