Sam-Son Farms' homebred Canadian classic winner Scatter the Gold has been sold to a group of Japanese breeders, who plan to stand him at Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan. Produced from champion Dance Smartly (by Danzig), 3-year-old Scatter the Gold won the first two races in the Canadian Triple Crown, the Queen's Plate Stakes and Prince of Wales Stakes, but ran third in the third event, the Breeders' Stakes on grass in what was his final start. Nine years earlier, Dance Smartly, completed the triple. Sired by Mr. Prospector, Scatter the Gold was retired with two wins from seven starts and earnings of $845,854.
