Thomas Nichols' homebred graded stakes winner Keys to the Heart has been retired from racing and is booked to
Came Home. The 5-year-old
Wild Again mare ran unplaced in the April 3 Apple Blossom Handicap (gr. I) at Oaklawn Park in what was scheduled to be her final race. In her previous outing, she ran second in the Oaklawn Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III).
Last year, Keys to the Heart won the Hawthorne Handicap (gr. III) and ran third in the Reloy Handicap on grass. She retired with three wins from 22 starts and earnings of $254,948. Nichols' boards her dam, Gold Shadow (by Mr. Prospector), at Wintergreen Stallion Station near Midway, Ky. She is in foal to
Belong to Me and is booked to
Cherokee Run. C. Beau Greely, co-owner of Wintergreen, trained Keys to the Heart the second part of her racing career.
