Northern Dancer, whose 146 stakes winners was a record for a time, is credited with another stakes winner, thanks to the effort of The Jockey Club Information Systems. The organization did some digging and discovered an Irish hurdle stakes-winning son that had gone undetected.

Named Grand Lachine, stakes winner No. 147 was bred by Northern Dancer's breeder/owner, E.P. Taylor, and foaled in the U.S. in 1969. Produced from the Grey Sovereign mare Lachine II, Grand Lachine was sent to Ireland as a yearling. In 1973, he won the Irish Distillers Hurdle Handicap and the following year took the Huzzar Hurdle Handicap and ran second in the Downshire H. Hurdle. On the flat and over jumps, Grand Lachine won six of 27 starts.

Northern Dancer (Nearctic--Natalma, by Native Dancer) died at the age of 29 in the fall of 1990.
