Jackpot Hits it Big in Gulfstream Park 'Cap

Jackpot (3) wins the Gulfstream Park Handicap.
Jackpot won the first stakes start of his career by two lengths over Newfoundland in the $300,000 Gulfstream Park Handicap (gr. II) on Saturday.
The Lady's Groom was another 1 3/4 lengths back for third in a field of six older horses.
Jackpot, the 17-1 shot ridden by Joe Bravo, ran 1 1/4 miles in 2:02 4/5 and paid $36.20, $9.80 and $19.60. Newfoundland paid $3.80 and $9, while The Lady's Groom paid $20.40 to show.
Bred and owned by Cynthia Phipps and trained by Shug McGaughey, Jackpot, a 6-year-old horse by
Seeking the Gold, has won four of 16 starts with four second-place finishes. The victory raised his earnings to $288,915.
"When he wanted to go I had no trouble getting him going," Bravos said. "Shug really did a great job with this horse."
The Judge Sez Who ran fourth, followed by Indy Dancer and 7-10 favorite Seattle Fitz, who stalked the pace along the inside to the final turn and faded.
