Come My Prince, whose grade I-winning son, Palace Music, sired the great Cigar, was euthanized March 7 at age 32 at Nancy Storer's Warfield Stud near Butler, Mo., because of complications from the infirmities of old age. Storer had bought the unraced daughter of Prince John in the late 1990s. "She was my favorite," said Storer, who stands Come My Prince's half-brother, Chapman's Charge, at her farm.

Bred by Mereworth Farms, Come My Prince produced 11 named foals, six of which were winners. Palace Music, by The Minstrel, was both a U.S. grade I winner and English group I winner and North America's leading sire by progeny earnings in 1995 when Cigar won his first of two Horse of the Year titles. Come My Prince's other offspring included successful Maryland sire Corridor Key.
