Three Vie for Favoritism in Kentucky Derby Future Wager

Lion Heart, St Averil, and Wimbledon have been installed as the 10-1 co-favorites in the third and final Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool, which opens Thursday at noon Eastern and closes Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
The mutuel field, which closed as the 9-5 favorite in February's opening pool and the 4-1 choice in pool two, has been listed at 20-1 in pool three by oddsmaker Mike Battaglia.
Six new wagering interests have been included in the final pool: Friends Lake, Preachinatthebar, Quintons Gold Rush, Sinister G, Smarty Jones, and Song of the Sword. Wagering interests were chosen by Mike Watchmaker and Brad Free of the Daily Racing Form
and John Asher of Churchill Downs.
A total of $895,924 was wagered in the first two pools of the Derby Future wager. Betting in February totaled $536,958 and the second pool in mid-March totaled $358,966.Kentucky Derby Future Wager pool three
