Keeper Hill, winner of the 1998 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), delivered her first foal Thursday morning. The foal, a colt by Gone West
was delivered at Dr. John and Alice Chandler's Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington.
"He's a flashy red colt with four white socks," Alice Chandler said. "She (Keeper Hill) is crazy about the foal and is doing a great job as a mother."
Keeper Hill, a 9-year-old bay mare bred in Kentucky by Chadds Ford Stable, et al, is owned by Mill Ridge Farm, Dr. John Chandler, JAMM Ltd., and Shug McGaughey.
According to Chandler, she will be bred this season to first-year sire Empire Maker

out of the Lypheor mare Fineza, Keeper Hill won four of 21 starts and earned $1,661,281. She won two other grade I stakes: the Las Virgenes Stakes at 3 and the 1999 Three Chimneys Spinster Stakes. She placed nine other stakes, eight of them grade I contests. She ran third in the 1998 Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I).
She is a half-sister to the graded stakes-winning sire Golden Gear (by Gulch
