Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy has been tabbed by Godolphin to ride as No. 2 jockey to Frankie Dettori in Europe this year. The vacancy has arisen following Jamie Spencer's appointment as retained rider to Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle this season, suceeding Mick Kinane.

McEvoy, the reigning champion in Melbourne, said: "This is a fabulous opportunity for me, I am really looking forward to being involved in my first European season and to working with Godolphin."

Godolphin racing manager Simon Crisford said McEvoy's style would be suited to European racing, adding: "He will be a great asset to our team. We will have more horses in Europe this summer so we hope to provide Kerrin with plenty of opportunities."
