Aqueduct Racetrack will be closed Friday for both live racing and simulcasting due to the impending storm expected to hit the area and last into late morning or early afternoon. The races scheduled to be run Friday will instead be run on Sunday as drawn.
Aqueduct will race on Monday, a previously scheduled dark day.
The races in the condition book for Sunday will instead be run on Monday. Entries for Monday's card will be taken Saturday morning.
"With the inclement weather predicted, we thought it was best to let our horsemen and fans know today that we would not be running tomorrow," said NYRA racing secretary and handicapper Mike Lakow.
Racing will resume on Saturday with a 10-race card highlighted by the $200,000 Gotham Mile (gr. III) for 3-year olds. The Gotham is a major prep race for the April 10 $750,000 Wood Memorial (gr. I), a race that has produced the winner of the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) in three of the last four years. First race post on Saturday is 1:00 p.m.
