Tronare Wins Golden Gate BC 'Cap for Mulhall

Chilean-bred Tronare, making his first American stakes start, defeated favored Soud in a powerful stretch duel to capture Sunday's $90,00 Golden Gate Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IIIT) on the turf.Ridden by Roberto Gonzalez, Tronare won by a length in 1:48 2/5 for the 1 1/8-mile event contested on firm going. Soud, the 17-10 choice ridden by Kent Desormeaux, was two lengths ahead of Aly Bubba and Joe Castro.Kristin Mulhall trained the winner, a 6-year-old son of Stuka, for owners Noctis Stable, Neil Papiano and Steve Taub.
