The Kentucky Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association, in conjunction with its annual dinner dance, will hold a silent auction March 15 to benefit the "Michael Rowland Family Fund." Rowland, a longtime jockey, died as a result of injuries suffered in a racing accident at Turfway Park in early February.

The event signals the start of Lane's End Stakes (gr. II) week at the Northern Kentucky racetrack. The $500,000 stakes is slated for March 20.

Items for the silent auction will be listed online at www.kyhbpa.org and www.nationalhbpa.com. Anyone interested in bidding via the Internet can contact Julio Rubio, the Kentucky HBPA representative, at Julio@kyhbpa.org. Bids will be accepted from March 12 until 10 a.m. EST March 15.

The silent auction will continue until 8 p.m. March 15 at Receptions in Erlanger, Ky. Additional items will be listed at www.ebay.com.
