Sharp Pleasantly Perfect Works for World Cup

Pleasantly Perfect worked seven furlongs in company Thursday at Santa Anita in 1:25 3/5 under Alex Solis.

The Breeders' Cup Classic winner is scheduled to depart Saturday for the $6 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-I) after missing the Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I) due to a slight fever.

"I got him in 1:24 and change," trainer Richard Mandella said. "He went out a mile in 1:38 and looked great. Now I just have to hope it doesn't make him sick tomorrow. If not, he'll be on a plane Saturday to Dubai."

Work mates Minister Thatcher and Minister Blair were clocked in 1:26 4/5 and 1:27 1/5, respectively.
