Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale Sets Select Records

The Magic Millions Perth yearling sale, which ended in Australia Wednesday, established records for gross revenue and average price during its two select sessions. The total for the 253 horses sold was $6,357,000 (approximately $4,816,699 in U.S. funds), up 18% from a year ago. The average was $25,126 ($19,038), the first time in the auction's history that the figure had gone over $25,000 ($18,943).
The clearance rate was 80%, an increase from 77.5% in 203.
"We are delighted with this year's select sale," said David Chester, Magic Millions managing director.
The top price during the final session was a Bletchley Park -- Louise Tudor colt that was purchased by Magic Millions, as agent, for $82,500 ($62,510). The price was the second-highest overall. The sale topper, a Scenic--Hello Lottie colt, sold for $135,000 ($102,195) during the opening session Tuesday.
