The Magic Millions Perth yearling sale opened Tuesday in Australia, with 101 horses selling for a gross of $2,548,000 (approximately $1,933,677 in U.S. funds) and an average price of $25,200 ($19,124).
A Scenic -- Hello Lottie half-brother to the group I winner Ancient Song topped the session when knocked down to Amelia Park for $135,000 ($102,452). The colt was consigned by Mardella Park
"Tonight's session was a great start to the sale," said David Chester, Magic Millions' managing director. "The well-bred and -presented yearlings during the session were rewarded by a strong local, interstate, and international buying bench.
"The results show a great deal of confidence from local buyers. The Western Australian industry is the fastest growing in the country with the third best prize money (behind Melbourne and Sydney) for metropolitan races."
