Grandera to Shuttle to Australia
Grandera, an English and Irish champion son of Grand Lodge, will shuttle in his first year at stud, commuting from the Yushun Stallion Station in Japan to his southern base, Darley Stud, in Australia's Hunter Valley.Darley's Australian manager, Oliver Tait, rates Grandera as a super-tough horse who shined on fast ground and owned an exceptional finishing kick."What's more, he was speedy and precocious, and is by a stallion who did very well in Australia. In other words," Tait added, "he should suit Australia to a tee, and I'm thrilled we'll be standing him."Six-year-old Grandera, who earned $2.8 million, is out of Alysheba mare Bordighera. His southern fee and Darley's final 2004 roster are yet to be announced.
