Undefeated Tapit had his final prep for Saturday's Florida Derby (gr. I), breezing five furlongs in 1:07 Monday at trainer Michael Dickinson's Tapeta Farm, finishing the work uphill and into a stiff head wind. The work was the fastest of five at the distance. The son of Pulpit is scheduled to fly to Florida on Tuesday, arriving at Gulfstream at around 5 p.m.Dickinson said that Edgar Prado, who won the 2002 Florida Derby on Harlan's Holiday, will be aboard.Tapit has won both his starts, including the Laurel Futurity (gr. III), but has not run since then due to shin problems suffered at Palm Meadows training center that caused him to miss 19 days of training. He had been scheduled to debut in the Risen Star Stakes (gr. III) at Fair Grounds.
