Society Selection and Last Song, who finished just a neck apart in the Davona Dale Stakes (gr. II) a month ago, head a small field of five in Saturday's $200,000 Bonnie Miss Stakes (gr. II) for 3-year-old fillies at Gulfstream Park.
Marjorie and Irving Cowan's Society Selection came with a wide rush that left her just a head and a neck behind Miss Coronado and Eye Dazzler in the 1 1/16-mile Davona Dale. The nine furlongs of the Bonnie Miss should suit her perfectly, and she is the 4-5 favorite in the early line. The daughter of Coronado's Quest, trained by Hall of Famer Allen Jerkens, carries 120 pounds with Jerry Bailey returning in the irons.
Society Selection won last year's Frizette (gr. I) at Belmont Park.
Buckram Oak Farm's Last Song raced head-and-head with Miss Coronado most of the way before tiring to be beaten a half-length while fourth in the Davona Dale. Trainer Carl Nafzger has given the call again to Edgar Prado at 120 pounds. The Unbridled's Song
filly is the 8-5 second choice.
The others entered are George Bolton, David DiPietro & Roger Honour's Rare Gift; Justin & Stefanie Carroll's Journey Fever; and Establo Madoca's Marina de Chavon. $200,000 Bonnie Miss Stakes (gr. II, Race 8, 4:13 p.m. EST), 3-year-old fillies, 1 1/8 mile
