The $4.5-million, world record Fusaichi Pegasus colt is now a California resident, living in the Hollywood Park barn of Hall-of-Fame trainer Neil Drysdale.
"He's settled in nicely, and he has an excellent temperament," Drysdale said on Sunday while looking at horses at the Barretts March sale of 2-year-olds in training.
Fusao Sekiguchi of Japan bought the colt, which is out of the Storm Cat mare Hidden Storm, at last Tuesday's Fasig-Tipton Florida select juvenile auction. Sekiguchi purchased the colt's sire for $4 million at the 1998 Keeneland July select yearling sale. Racing for Sekiguchi and Shadai Farm, Fusaichi Pegasus captured the 2000 Kentucky Derby (gr. I).
Asked how soon the world record Fusaichi Pegasus colt would race, Drysdale said it would depend on "how he matured."
