Lexington's Gainesway Farm will bring Luhuk from Argentina to stand the 2001 Northern Hemisphere breeding season. Of the eight known foals in Luhuk's first crop, all but one are stakes winners or stakes-placed, all in Argentina. Among that crop, which are now 3-year-olds, is group I winner Guernika, plus Theol, a multiple group winner this year. Coincidentally, both Guernika and Theol are out of Southern Halo mares. Southern Halo stood at Haras La Quebrada before coming to the United States in 1995.

Luhuk (Forty Niner -- Royal Stance, by Dr. Fager) was bred in Kentucky by E.A. Cox purchased by Shadwell Estate Co. for $500,000 at the 1996 Keeneland July yearling sale. He raced in England and Dubai for Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum before retiring to Argentina where he currently stands at Haras La Quebrada. Among Luhuk's six wins were the ROA Foundation and Arlington International Racecourse Stakes in England. His lifetime race record was 18-6-2-1 with earnings of $107,105.

Luhuk is a half-sibling to stakes winners Majuscule and Royal Cielo, and is from the female family of Lammtarra and Korveya. He will be syndicated and will stand for $10,000, live foal, in 2001. He is scheduled to arrive at Gainesway on Dec. 20.
