The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association and Equine Sales of Louisiana on Tuesday, March 1 announced a mutual agreement with the purpose of encouraging and supporting the sale, purchase, and racing opportunities for Louisiana owners, breeders, trainers, and potential buyers in Louisiana.

The LTBA has agreed to suspend the operation of the Breeders Sales Co. of Louisiana's annual yearling sale for a period of five years. During this period the LTBA will assist in the advertising and information gathering and provide a full endorsement of the Equine Sales of Louisiana.

"The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association and its members are the number one priority here. Moving forward as a unified group will only solidify the future of the industry in Louisiana," said LTBA president Tom Early.

Gary Johnson, president of Equine Sales of Louisiana, was equally pleased.

"Horsemen working together for a common goal is always what's best for business in Louisiana," Johnson said. "The agreement to work together to provide a yearling sale that everyone can be proud of is what's best for the horsemen."
