Hill 'n' Dale Farms reported that Footing is the first mare confirmed in foal to champion Vindication. A son of Seattle Slew, Vindication stands at that Lexington farm, owned by John Sikura.

Footing, by Forty Niner, is owned by Mickey and Karen Taylor, who raced Seattle Slew, in partnership with Albert S. Finney. A multiple stakes winner and grade I-placed, Footing earned $309,220. Footing's first offspring, Infantry (by Seattle Slew), sold for $750,000 at the 1999 Barretts March sale of 2-year-olds in training.

"Vindication has been extremely well received by breeders, and it is great to see he has excellent fertility," Sikura said.

Vindication, who was produced from the Strawberry Road mare Strawberry Reason, won the 2002 Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and retired unbeaten for Satish and Anne Sanan's Padua Stables.
