Three finalists for a dormant casino gaming license in Illinois currently held by bankrupt Emerald Casino Inc. were named by the state gaming board Wednesday.
The finalists are Harrah's Entertainment, which bid $375 million for a casino in Waukegan; Isle of Capri Casinos, which bid $351 million for a casino in Rosemont; and Midwest Gaming and Entertainment, which bid$360 million to build a casino in Des Plaines.
Seven companies submitted bids for the license. Reuters reports Penn National Gaming were among those left out.
An auction for the license among the final bidders will be conducted March 10 and the winner will be announced by the gaming board March 15. Final confirmation would be needed by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
