Chicagoland Tracks Extend Contract for TV Show
The two Thoroughbred racetracks in Chicagoland have inked a two-year contract for a daily replay show that airs on local television.Arlington Park and Hawthorne Race Course announced a contract extension with ChicagoLand Television to air the replay shows through the end of 2005. The show, called Thoroughbred Today, will air every racing day from 10-10:30 p.m. Central time beginning Feb. 27, opening day of the Hawthorne meet.CLTV has been airing Thoroughbred Today since May 2002."This contract extension that Hawthorne Race Course, Arlington Park, and CLTV have signed shows our ability to work together to continue to improve the overall interest in Thoroughbred racing in Illinois," said Thomas Carey III, president of Hawthorne National and director of operations for Hawthorne."With the support of the Illinois Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association, we have been able to work together with Hawthorne Race Course and CLTV to guarantee that our customers will be able to watch consistent coverage of our great sport for the next two years," Arlington president Cliff Goodrich said.Thoroughbred Today will be independently produced by each track and encompass the National Jockey Club's spring meet at Hawthorne (Feb. 27-May 11), the summer meet at Arlington (May 14-Sept. 19), and the fall season at Hawthorne (Sept. 24-Dec. 31).
