Donn Handicap (gr. I) winner Medaglia d' Oro received all but two first-place votes to top the first weekly National Thoroughbred Racing Association national poll of 2004. Fountain of Youth Stakes (gr. I) winner Read the Footnotes is ranked as the top 3-year-old.

Week one of the 2004 NTRA Thoroughbred Poll conducted by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA), covering racing performances through Feb. 22. Ranking of the top Thoroughbreds as selected by horseracing media representatives on 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis with first-place votes in parentheses, 2004 record and total points.
