Paraneck Stable's Redskin Warrior was a comfortable five-length winner of the $81,825 Best Turn for 3-year-olds at six furlongs at Aqueduct Saturday.

In coming home the victor for the third time in four starts and posting a winning time of 1:09 4/5, the Indian Charlie colt stamped himself as a horse to watch as the season unfolds.

Second in the wagering behind favored Matsui, Redskin Warrior had plenty of unanswered questions. He had not raced sine winning a main track allowance at Aqueduct on Oct. 30, and after that effort, he was vanned off the track because he had torn the skin of his fetlocks and injured his hooves.

Trainer Jennifer Pedersen breezed him steadily at Palm Meadows, Fla. and then on Aqueduct's inner dirt track.

With jockey Richard Migliore in the irons, Redskin Warrior sat just off Abbondanza, who was hustled up the rail for the lead under Shaun Bridgmohan. The pacesetter got the first quarter of a mile in :22 2/5, the half in :45 2/5 and five-eighths in :57.

When Migliore gave him the word, Redskin Warrior surged for the win.

"The hardest part about getting on this colt is one morning it was 10 degrees and the other morning it was 16 degrees," Migliore said. "That was a lot harder than the race."

"Now, we can move him on," Pederson said. "I would like to try two turns – that's obviously the big thing – but I'm no sure where. The Lane's End might be a possibility."

Turfway Park's $500,000 Lane's End (gr. II) at nine furlongs is a strong possibility, given the fact that Paraneck and Pedersen won the race last year with New York Hero.

Scary Bob was second in the Best Turn, followed by Matsui, who was a bit reluctant loading into the gate.

Redskin Warrior earned $49,095 and returned $6.40, $4.10 and $3.50. Scary Bob paid $9.20 and $3.70 and Matsui was $7.70.
