Graded Stakes-Placed Garden in the Rain Retired

Richard Englander's Garden in the Rain, who placed in five stakes after being claimed, has been retired and will be bred to War Chant  . Through trainer Jeff Mullins, Englander claimed the 7-year-old French-bred daughter of Dolphin Street for $50,000 in the fall of 2002 and was rewarded when the mare placed in the Buena Vista (gr. IIT), Santa Ana (gr. IIT), San Gorgonio (gr. IIT), and Palomar Breeders' Cup (gr. IIT) Handicaps, plus the Avigaition Stakes on grass.

Garden in the Rain, who was produced from the Nebos mare Marcotte, also was twice stakes-placed in France for previous owner. She retired with eight wins from 36 starts and earnings of $466,629.
