Breeders' Cup Classic - Presented by Dodge (gr. I) winner Pleasantly Perfect worked seven furlongs in 1:25.40 at Santa Anita Monday as he prepped for the $1 million Santa Anita Handicap (gr. I) on March 6.

"I got him in 1:25 and (galloping) out a mile in 1:38 4/5," trainer Richard Mandella said.

Regular rider Alex Solis was aboard for the workout. "It doesn't hurt to have a horse's regular jockey work it every once in a while," Mandella said. "Alex likes to work horses and he does a good job so I let him."

Meanwhile, Mandella said undefeated champion Halfbridled will likely work on Friday as she readies for her 3-year-old debut in the $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) at 1 1/16 miles on March 13.

In other workouts at Santa Anita:

-- Buffythecenterfold, prepping for Sunday's $100,000 Las Flores Handicap (gr. III), went five furlongs in :58 3/5, although trainer Mel Stute said, "I had her in :58 2/5."

-- Bluesthestandard worked four furlongs in :46.60 in preparation for the San Carlos Handicap on March 7. "It was a typical work for him," said Ted West, assistant to trainer Ted H. West. "We kind of let him train himself. He's kind of a machine. Every work is a carbon-copy of the previous work, it seems like."

-- Echo Eddie worked four furlongs Sunday in :50.20, breezing, and trainer Darrell Vienna said the stakes-winning sprinter is doing "real well. He went a lot faster than he was supposed to. We really wanted to go about :53 or :54."
