Turfway Park officials have canceled live racing Friday, again blaming the freeze-and-thaw cycle that affects the surface of the track as the culprit.
The cancellation is the third consecutive decision and the seventh whole-card cancellation since the winter/spring meet began Jan 1. The track also has cancelled mid-card four times during the meet. The last day Turfway was able to present live racing was, Feb. 8, when three races were run before the remaining seven were canceled.
Last year, during the 2003 winter/spring meet, 15 days of live racing were cancelled, mostly in February.
The track remains open for its regular simulcast schedule.
