Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Kline, previously of Dixiana Farm, announced Friday that they and a new partnership have purchased Spendthrift Farm. Kline will move his operation and livestock to Spendthrift, located near Lexington, and begin full operations -- breeding, boarding, foaling, and sales preparation.
Cost of the transaction wasn't provided.
Stallions boarded at Dixiana -- El Amante, Fly Till Dawn, Mr. Greeley, Mystery Storm, Prized, Sefapiano, and Senor Speedy -- will relocate to Spendthrift. Two new sires, Chief Seattle and Down The Aisle, will begin their stud careers at Spendthrift. Kerosene and Peruvian, owned by previous Spendthrift owner Ted Taylor, will remain at the farm. Taylor's horses will remain at Spendthrift as boarders.
Kline will conduct all operations at the farm. His staff will include James Brown, farm manager; Suzie Oldham, sales and marketing; Lianne Mize, office manager; and Aimee Compton, broodmare manager.
