A total of $10,000 in prize money, including a first place prize of $6,000, will be up for grabs in Trackside Louisville OTB's Handicapping Challenge on Sunday.
The Handicapping Challenge is scheduled for 2-6 p.m. (all times EST) at Trackside Louisville. The entry fee is $45 per entry for members of the Twin Spires Club ("TSC") and $55 for non-TSC members.
Entries are limited to three per person. Each participant will receive a buffet lunch and a copy of the Daily Racing Form.
Each handicapper will begin the challenge with an "imaginary" $48 bankroll and is required to wager on 12 races. Those races include six designated as "mandatory" and six that will be chosen by each handicapper from a list of 20 selected "optional" races at four U.S. tracks. Participants are required to "wager" exactly $2 to win and $2 to place on a single horse in each of those dozen races.
The handicapper that possesses the largest "imaginary" bankroll at the end of Handicapping Challenge will earn the top prize of $6,000.
"Optional" choices will include races at Gulfstream Park (races 4-8); Turfway Park (3-7); Fair Grounds Race Course (3-7); and Oaklawn Park (1-5). The "mandatory" races will be designated on the day of the Handicapping Challenge.
Prize money also includes $2,000 for the Challenge runner-up; $1,000 for third; $500 for fourth; $250 for fifth; and $50 each for the sixth through 10th place finishers.
The Handicapping Challenge is limited to 350 entries and registration is first-come, first-served. Entrants must be 18 years old and are required to register in person and to present a valid I.D.
Registration is scheduled at Trackside Louisville on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the day of the event.
