(from Santa Anita notes)
Undefeated Eclipse Award champion Halfbridled is on course to make her 3-year-old debut in next Sunday's $250,000 Las Virgenes Stakes (gr. I) for 3-year-old fillies at one mile.

Trainer Richard Mandella is confident she is coming up to the race in good form despite a recent coughing bout that delayed her training schedule slightly.

"It seems like it's all right," Mandella said Sunday of the episode. "It seems like it's OK."

Halfbridled, a daughter of Unbridled, won all four of her starts at 2, including the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) Oct. 25 at Santa Anita by 2 ½ lengths while breaking from the No. 14 post position.

Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone, who has ridden Halfbridled in all her races, is to return for the Las Virgenes. She has been sidelined nearly two months from injuries suffered in a two-horse spill at Hollywood Park on Dec. 12 and is scheduled to ride in her first race since that date on Wednesday.

Probable for the Las Virgenes: A. P. Adventure, Alex Solis; Friendly Michelle, no rider; Halfbridled, Krone; Whoopi Cat, Mike Smith; and Wildwood Flower, Gary Stevens.
