Spritely Walker Wins 'Premier Night' Feature

Heavily favored Spritely Walker held off a determined Mr. Archibald to win Saturday night's $200,000 Louisiana Premier Night Championship Stakes at Delta Downs.
The race was the featured event in a 10-race series for Louisiana breds worth a total of $1 million.
Spritely Walker a 4-year-old Skywalker colt, led virtually all of the way for his third consecutive win. He defeated Mr. Archibald, who pressed the winner most of the way, by 1 3/4 lengths. Prince Slew was third, another length behind. The final time for the 1 1/16-mile test on a fast track was 1:46 3/5.
Trained by Steve Asmussen for owner Bill Heiligbrodt, Spritely Walker won for the first time in three starts at Delta Downs. He now has six wins and three seconds in 13 career starts, earning $120,000 for the victory.
He paid $3.60 for the win.
Earlier on the card, Sellers teamed with 7-5 favorite Zarb's Luck to win the five-furlong $100,000 Premier Night Sprint by 4 1/4 lengths in a time of :58 3/5. Belive Im Special was second and Toby's Success was third.
