John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery's Bienamado, unraced since a fourth-place finish in the Arlington Million Stakes (gr. IT) in August, returns to the races Saturday at Hollywood Park, where he will face eight rivals in the $400,000 Hollywood Turf Cup Stakes (gr. IT). Also entered in the 1 1/2-mile turf race is Lazy Lode, the winner of the last two renewals.
Bienamado won his first two starts of the year prior to the Million, winning the Jim Murray Memorial and Sunset (gr. IIT) Handicaps at Hollywood Park. The 4-year-old son of Bien Bien raced primarily in France and England as a sophomore. As a 2-year-old, he won the Prix de Conde (Fr-III) and finished second in both the Stakis Casinos Great Voltiguer Stakes (Eng-II) -- won by Fantastic Light -- and the Prix Niel (Fr-II), finishing a head behind Montjeu in the latter race.
