David Flores says he is unconcerned about whether there will be sufficient pace for Action This Day when the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) champion makes his 3-year-old debut in Sunday's $75,000 Sham Stakes at 1 1/8 miles.

"I've been working him and he's feeling great," Flores said of the son of Kris S. who came from stone last to win the Juvenile by 2 ½ lengths at odds of nearly 27-1. "He's very strong," said Flores, who celebrates his 36th birthday today. "Every time he works he's finishing the last quarter of a mile very solid. It looks like he has more weight on him and he looks stronger and he's pretty professional. He can do anything right now.

"Whether there's speed in the race or not it won't matter. The horse is doing great."

Action This Day blew out three furlongs under Flores Thursday morning in :35 3/5, breezing.

Probable for the Sham: Action This Day, David Flores; Borrego, Tyler Baze; Master David, Alex Solis; Preachinatthebar, Gary Stevens; Totally Platinum, no rider; True Contender, no rider; and Winner From Mars, Kent Desormeaux.

At Hollywood Park, Master David had his final prep, going four furlongs in :49 for Bobby Frankel.
