West by West, sixth-leading third crop sire, may be headed to Turkey.
West By West, sixth-leading third crop sire in the U.S., is among three stallions destined for Turkey, if negotiations are completed. The other two are Fantastic Fellow and Marlin, according to Narvick International, which is helping engineer the deal with the Turkish Jockey Club.
Six-year-old Fantastic Fellow (Lear Fan -- Chateaubaby, by Nureyev) has stood since his retirement at Graham J. Beck's Gainesway Farm near Lexington. His first foals were born this year.
Millionaires West by West and Marlin are in Argentina for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season. Eleven-year-old West by West (Gone West -- West Turn, by Cox's Ridge) stood north of the equator for a syndicate at John T.L. Jones Jr.'s Walmac International near Lexington. He has sired nine stakes winners.
Seven-year-old Marlin (Sword Dance -- Syrian Summer, by Damascus) stood for a syndicate at Mr. and Mrs. Brereton C. Jones' Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky. Marlin's first foals are yearlings.
