There was $460,400 wagered in the first week of Magna Entertainment's "Magna 5" wager. There were 28 tickets with all five winners, each worth $13,928.40.
The wager challenges bettors to pick the winners of five consecutive races at Magna-owned tracks. The races were run in little more than an hour.
The wager, with a guaranteed pot of $500,000, is to open every Saturday through May 29. If there is no winner, the pot will continue to grow until it is hit.
The Magna 5, sponsored by XpressBet, MEC's account wagering subsidiary, is available wherever races on MEC tracks are available. Cost for the wager is $2.
This week's races the Nellie Morse from Laurel Park, an allowance/optional claiming event from Gulfstream Park, the Brown Bess Handicap from Golden Gate Fields, an allowance race from Gulfstream and an allowance race from Santa Anita.
