The Kentucky Horse Racing Authority, created in early January by Gov. Ernie Fletcher, will meet for the first time Feb. 5.

Fletcher, elected in November, is scheduled to address the authority after the members take the oath of office. The old 11-member Kentucky Racing Commission was abolished by Fletcher and replaced by the 13-member authority.

The meeting will include an overview by Jesse Skees, acting executive director of the authority; remarks by Jim Host, secretary of the Commerce Cabinet; and a presentation by Jill LeMaster, executive director of the Executive Branch Ethics Commission.

The meeting will begin at noon at the covered arena building at the Kentucky Horse Park, where the authority offices are currently located.
