Autotote Sets Launch for Connecticut Racing Channel

Autotote's long-awaited racing channel is set to debut Feb. 4 in southern Connecticut, and officials said it's only the first step toward a 12-hour-a-day production

"Racing Live" will air daily from 9 to 11p.m. on Channel 84 on Cablevision, the New Haven Register reports. Autotote also operates Connecticut Off-Track Betting.

"This is just the first step in creating a true live racing channel for Connecticut," Autotote president John Ponzio told the Register. "We're starting with a limited schedule. We'll see how it progresses, with the ultimate goal of showing live horse racing, dog racing, and even jai alai on all the cable outlets in the state seven days a week, 12 hours a day."

Cablevision covers Woodbridge, Orange, Milford, Stratford, Bridgeport, Fairfield, Easton, Redding, Weston, Westport, Wilton, Norwalk, New Canaan, Darien, Stamford, and Greenwich. Autotote is in negotiations with Cox Cable, Comcast, and Charter Communications.

At the outset, live racing will be available from tracks such as Delta Downs, Derby Lane, Los Alamitos, Meadowlands, Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort, Northfield Park, and Sam Houston Race Park.
