Frisky Spider, an up-and-coming colt on the 3-year-old South Florida trail, remained undefeated in three starts with a conditioned allowance victory Sunday at Gulfstream Park.
Frisky Spider, a Maryland-bred son of Frisk Me Now, was expected to face stakes-winning Stolen Time in the $36,000 non-winners of two event, but trainer Bill Mott scratched Stolen Time.
Sent of at 3-5 in the six-horse field, Frisky Spider, ridden by Edwin L. King Jr., defeated Weigelia by three-quarters of a length. He earned $21,600 for owners Carol R. Dender and Martin Friedman. Robert Durso trains the winner, who has recorded three consecutive bullet workouts since Dec.28.
