Wiggins Duo Tops Tiffany Lass Hopefuls

(from Fair Grounds report)
Trainer Hal Wiggins holds a strong hand in Sunday's $100,000 Tiffany Lass at Fair Grounds, entering a pair of strong contenders in Lotta Kim and All Electric.

A deep field of 13 will meet in the Tiffany Lass, which is contested at one mile for 3-year-old fillies.

The Tiffany Lass opens a series of three races for sophomore fillies, including the Silverbulletday Stakes (gr. II) Feb. 14 and the Fair Grounds Oaks (gr. II) on March 6.

Lotta Kim, who has been installed as the 3-1 favorite on the morning line, exits a fine runner-up effort in the Golden Rod Stakes (gr. II) in November at Churchill Downs. The Dolphus Morrison homebred was given a freshening following that performance and has been training forwardly for the Tiffany Lass. Leading rider Robby Albarado picks up the mount on Lotta Kim, who will break from post position No. 3.

The other half of Wiggins' two-prong attack is All Electric. The daughter of Grand Slam comes in fresh off a dominating allowance win at the distance earlier this month. Jockey Calvin Borel, who was aboard for that win, retains the mount on All Electric, who will break from post No. 12.

Trainer Steve Asmussen, who won the 2002 renewal with Lake Lady and followed that up last year with a dominating win by Lady Tak, is back again with a strong contender in Sister Swank. The daughter of Skip Away finished a game second in the Thelma Stakes earlier this month, and gets her first opportunity to stretch out Sunday. Asmussen has handed the reins to jockey Shane Sellers.

Another filly that should make her presence felt is Stephan's Angel. Trained by John Servis, the Maryland-bred invader ships to New Orleans from Oaklawn Park with an unblemished record, winning her first three starts by a combined 23 lengths. Jockey Richard Migliore, who was aboard for a stakes win at Aqueduct in her last outing, will be in from Florida to ride.
