In a testament to how tough this year' s $500,000 Franks Farms Turf has come up, Adminniestrator, who took the 2003 edition of the race, will be 15-1 when wagering opens for the unique East vs. West Showdown Saturday at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita Park.

"It' s a lot more deeper and competitive this year," said Canani. "He's in a big field and it's a tough race."

After taking last year's race at Santa Anita, the California-bred son of Incinerator faltered in two long-distance graded stakes and was forced to the sidelines. He was on the shelf for more than eight months until he finished fourth in an $80,000 claiming race from which Canani haltered him for Michael Gill.

"The morning line is so high on him because of the long time off," said Canani. "The race we took him from he ran well. We're hoping he can bounce back and run big in here."

Adminniestrator jogged the Gulfstream oval along with Canani's other California charge, Thunder Bullet, who like his stablemate, was recently claimed. Thunder Bullet also jumps into a difficult race, having to take on Shake You Down and Valid Video.

"We're hoping someone goes out and challenges Shake You Down," said Canani . "It looks like there's no one to go with (Shake you Down). We'll just see how the race unfolds. You never know how it all unfolds, and there's not much at all that we can do about it."
